Energy saving as a daily habit

I have been living in a student accommodation for about half a year now and I have felt the need to save energy, not only because it is cheaper, but also because I believe that it helps to save the environment at least a little bit.

Firstly, we always turn off the radiators when we leave, even if it’s just for a few hours. Since the windows are closed, the room stays warm and if we need more heat when we come back, we turn it on, but only for a while. Actually, we never really leave the radiators on for long even when we are home. We use it only for short periods of time, when we feel that it is cold in the room. Sometimes, if we are cold, we just make some hot tea, instead of turning the heater on. This helps tremendously, even if it doesn’t look that way. And help for cold feet? Well, we each have bought big and warm socks to solve this problem. Warm feet equals to warm body and that my friend, in a seemingly silly way, saves energy.
