We ran our first international photo competition of 2015-16 at the end of this November. Since the start of the academic year, we've been asking students to submit photos to our regular competitions with energy saving actions that they have been taking.
We whittled down the photos shared from across all participating universities and countries to our favourite 27, and put it to a public vote. We had over 250 votes across the photos, and the competition engaged with over 8,000 people across Europe which is fantastic - the more we share our actions, the more positive influence we have on everyone around us.
The winner was the image above – Bijoy from Queen Mary University London, UK, switching off lights to save energy. He's won a bunch of Ben & Jerry's vouchers for cutting carbon in his halls. A photo from Technical University of Crete, Greece came in close second, followed by a photo from the University of Cyprus in third spot. Every image we share celebrates our commitment to energy saving and has a positive influence on those around us. That’s why we run these competitions.
Together, we can help form environmentally responsible habits right across the EU. Working internationally, our carbon savings can get bigger and bigger.
