We ran our final international photo competition of the year with our participating SAVES universities- and the results are in! Since the start of the academic year, we've been asking students to submit photos to our regular competitions with energy saving actions that they have been taking within their halls of residence - be it wrapping up warm, not overfilling the kettle, switching off the lights, outting lids on pans or unplugging unused devices.
We whittled down the photos shared from across all participating universities and countries to our favourite 30, and put it to a public vote. We had over 340 votes across the photos, and the competition engaged with over 4,000 people across Europe which is great- the more we share our actions, the more positive influence we have on everyone around us.
The winner was the image above – Kitty from Queen Mary University London, UK, not over filling her kettle. Kitty has won a bunch of Ben & Jerry's vouchers for cutting carbon in her halls. Photos from University of Cyprus claimed second and third spots. Every image we share celebrates our commitment to energy saving and has a positive influence on those around us.
Well done to all the photos that were selected for our international competition. Together, we can help form environmentally responsible habits right across the EU. Working internationally, our carbon savings can get bigger and bigger.
